InvokyrFIELD GUIDE

How to Play Invokyr: Dice, Idols and Your First Board

At a glance

Roll the movement die, complete the event or idol requirement, and return to the game room for the next roll. At the center, recover the soul and bring it back to seal the board.

Start at the board

Gather around the board in the game room. Your team shares one playing piece: rolling the movement die advances it toward the center and changes the rooms around you.

Read the message above the board after every roll. It tells you what must happen before the next roll. Some turns send you out for idols; others begin an event that you need to survive or finish first.

Find idols and return them

  1. Explore the new layout and search rooms for idols.
  2. Pick up an idol and carry it back to the game room. Its curse can change how you move or perceive the house.
  3. Deliver it to the board and check the remaining requirement above the table.
  4. When the movement die unlocks, regroup and roll again.

Do not convert an idol’s sale value into a required item count. Follow the board’s displayed objective.

Keep a way home

Rooms can move after a roll, so a familiar doorway may no longer lead where you expect. A Thread Die can help you find the game room. Keep healing, control or escape dice available instead of spending every useful item on optional exploration.

Special dice are single-use. Their bad faces can turn an escape attempt into another hazard, so leave space around the landing point.

Finish the board

Reaching the center starts the final task; it does not finish the board by itself. Recover the Game Master’s Soul, carry it back to the game room and complete the sealing interaction. Say Invokyr when the game prompts you.

Wait for the completion and scoring sequence before treating the board as cleared. Then use the shop, place the finished board on the wall and choose the next board.

If the next roll is locked

Check the active event and the idol requirement above the board. Finish that objective before trying to roll again. A monster from an earlier turn may still be in the house, so do not assume that a new roll clears every threat.
